The Voices within the Noises

When the fear within
Seeps through the cracks
Of a tainted mind
And gives rise to the chaos
You begin to hear
The voices within the noises

When the shadows grow
And the darkness thickens,
The static world surrounding you
Hums to life
You begin to decipher
The voices within the noises

When the silence looms
And engulfs your soul
The pressure beats incessantly
Against your fragile core
You begin to seek
The voices within the noises

They whisper sweetly
Gently coaxing
Pushing you to the edge
Till you feel yourself falling
Finally you become
One of the voices within the noises…

Darkness

I fear the darkness sometimes...

Yet, somehow, I welcome the chance to hide within the confines of its shadows...  It nourishes the darkness within my soul and kills the pain that stems from being in the light for too long...

There is a place within me, a secret place where my fears are housed.  There is an intruder...someone who has learnt my secrets..someone who knows how to unlock the fear...someone who wishes for the darkness to be unleashed.

It is a fearful thing, this darkness.  It is a living entity with a mind of its own.  Once it has been set free, it is near impossible to re-tether.  My fear is that this darkness will spread to all the good in my past and darken the doorstep of my future.   It is a hungry creature...ever willing to engulf all that crosses its path

I cannot fathom the whens and whys of this unleashing...and I have no solution to reign it back in.  Perhaps, instead of running from the darkness, I should embrace this alternate life...?  Perhaps the time has come to permanently turn off the lights and be at one with the shadows....

Whether you conform or not, society will always criticise.  Why not embrace that which brings you "PEACE".  Peace is maybe not the appropriate word.  Sensory deprivation seems more apt.  That is the offer that this darkness makes, no more feelings, no bad words, no hurtful sights...complete and total darkness...silence...like a caterpillar within a cocoon, awaiting rebirth, a new life...new beginnings..

But first...

EMBRACE THE DARKNESS...

Monsters

When the monsters
Become real
Where do we hide?
Who do we run to?
When we find
Within ourselves
The lurking darkness
Who do we turn to for light?
That which we see
When passing a mirror
Out of the corner
Of our eyes
That sly glint
Of potential evil
That lets us know
They are real
They no longer reside
Within our closets
Or under our beds
They live within us
Waiting
Watching
Biding for time
For the perfect opportunity
To shatter the bonds
And take over
To taste the freedom

Of being king

ORDERED cHaOs

FOOTSTEPS ECHO
in the empty halls
OF MY CHAOTIC MIND
frantically racing
TOWARDS AN OPEN DOOR

an invisible stampede
OF UnOrDEreD THOUGHTS
fighting TO BE set free

a SHIMMER in the AIR
A RIPPLE IN THE waters of TIME
AS THEY ACHE
to flow freely

Spreading their touch
CREATING HAVOC
in the uniformity
of mundanity
STIRRING up the peace
creating
ORDERED chaos!

Stranger...

There he stands
On the outskirts of my mind
Wandering about
Lost in thought
He stops a moment
And I hide away
It feels as if
He senses my presence
I see him look around
Shake his head and keep on walking
I watch him in silence
This mystery man
Why does he linger
In the recesses of my mind?
What does he mean to me?
Why do I need to know more?
Is he a guardian angel?
Or perhaps the bearer of bad news…?
Why does he stare?
Why doesn’t he come closer?
Why does he roam
On the very edge
Of this abyss
That is my mind?
A haunting memory…
A remembered fear…
An inexplicable feeling
Of overwhelming apprehension…
The need within me builds
I reach out to him
A gentle tap on his shoulder
He slowly turns to me

The image shatters

Sleep...

The tantalising fingers
of serenity
gently beckon
to my tortured soul

The sweet whispers
of oblivion
tempt me
to a realm unknown

The lingering promise
of solitude
drags me
to a darkened road

The delicious ecstasy
of freedom
urges me
to reach out

The ferocious energy
of stillness
embraces me
and makes me whole

I lose myself
within the confines
of a seething
ordered chaos

Falling deeper
into an endless abyss
of this false death

called sleep...

Facing myself...

She walks before me
The world at her feet
A famous celebrity
We all wish to meet

The sway of her hips
The flick of her hair
The way she crosses her legs
As she sits on the chair

A wave of her fingers
And her wishes are done
Who is this mystery woman?
Where does she come from?

I stare in through the window
Wondering who she may be…
Slowly she turns
And stares back at me

Shadows dance across her face
Distorting her features…
Who hides behind the mask
Of this unnatural creature?

I reach out my hand
To clear out the glass
Wiping away the dust
From many days past…

She reaches out to me
Her hand touching mine
The tentative touch
Sends a shiver down my spine

As the haziness clears
A familiar face I see
A face I know so well
Stares back at me

The shadows lengthen
My fear grows
I see it in her eyes
Oh yes, she knows

I am drawn to her
It’s a spell I cannot break
I am compelled towards her…
With every step I take...

My doppelganger
My alter ego
My other half
My anti-hero

The window it seems
Is a piece of glass
Through which she needs
My help to pass

Again I reach out
And help her through
Into this world
Of thoughts so new

As we stand
Side by side
Our thoughts
Begin to collide

A battle for power
Her strength against mine
We are opposite sides
Of the same coin

We cannot be apart
We cannot face each other
Who will succeed
And who will suffer?

Dominance is
our adrenalin rush
who is mightier
when it comes to the push?

Is it the mask
The public sees?
Or the hidden face
So hard to please?

Is there a compromise
Between the two?
How do we know
Who to choose?

The truth within
Or the lies without?
Or perhaps
It is the other way about?

The hidden soul
Or the outer shell?
On which of these
Must our focus dwell?

What is it
That the world must know?
Which of these
Should be allowed to grow?

The imperfection
Of self-perception?
Or the acceptance
Of a beautiful presence?
