It truly is a
strange world we live in...
We humans are in
constant need of the "latest thing", always searching for something
new and exciting to tingle our taste buds. Always competing and
hardly ever helping out.
Recently, I was
driving along and minding my own business when some idiot in a Corsa and his
friend were fooling around, stopping in the middle of the road and not letting
me pass. Lots of people saw what they were up to, security guards included, yet nobody helped me. So,
being the strong and independent woman that I am, I called the police and
reported them. I haven't a clue what came off it, but it just goes to
show that humanity, kindness and community spirit is dead.
According to the
Holy books of all religions, helping people is a form of charity.
Those same books indicate that if we wish to have a peaceful hereafter,
we must accumulate good deeds in this world. Sadly, it seems that nobody
follows scriptures anymore. Its more about who has the flashiest car or
the latest cellphone. Nobody really gives a damn about helping people
anymore...unless of course, it lands them in the newspapers...
There are very
few genuinely good people in the world. Hell, if you say to
someone that you tried to help someone out, the first question you are asked
is, "What did you get out of it?" Selfish times we live in.
there was a dinner held by a group of concerned women, in conjunction with
a well-known charity organisation, who are disturbed by the
plight of people throughout the world. It truly is inspiring to see their
tireless effort in order to raise funds to send to people who
desperately need it. People who only eat one meal a week due to their
state of poverty...yet people who never lose their smile to the on looking
world as they hold on to their dignity...
We were all
created for a purpose, surely part of that purpose is to help each other
achieve our goals instead of putting each other down at the first opportunity?
It has been ages
since I have been inspired to think, leave alone write...but certain people,
through their genuine NICENESS (an emotion truly lacking in the majority of
this generation) inspire me to be good and do good...
If only the
world were filled with people who thought so instead of mindless sheep blindly
following the current trends, be they wrong or right. Have we truly lost
our conscience? Why is it so hard to be nice to people. Smile at a
stranger, you may just make their day. It doesn't cost you much...How
would we make friends (and keep them) if we don't learn to be nice?
Why can we not
strive to be an inspiration to the next generation? Is importance measured in
wealth? Are the only important things in the world, the things that money can
buy? Or is it the blessing a thirsty woman gives you when u offer her
water, or a blind man's smile as you help him safely across the road?
Perhaps it isn't
such a far-fetched idea after all...look within yourself and find the
inspiration...
